Is it a beautiful day to get out and explore nature? There are plenty of opportunities for fun in the sun right in your backyard. The Blue Ash area has so much to offer. That’s why we asked our TGS parents about their favorite family-friendly outdoor activities. We are excited to share their answers and hope that you see some of your favorites, too!

1. Blue Ash Nature Park

For a day of exploring the great outdoors, Blue Ash Nature Park is quite the destination. Come to learn about the wonderful world around us and surround your family with nature! With trails, events, and a storybook experience, this nature park is a family favorite. The recent StoryWalk® feature—a children’s book displayed through the park with activities to encourage literacy—is an incredibly engaging experience. StoryWalk® has partnered with the Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library to feature a new book every two months to encourage repeat visits!

2. Cincinnati Zoo

When you’re looking for a big adventure, head on over to the zoo! There are more than 20 animal exhibits to explore at the Cincinnati Zoo, as well as lots of restaurants and attractions. Parents love watching the wonder in their children’s eyes as they learn about animals, conservation, and our environment. Children love taking in all the new sights and sounds as they encounter animals from almost every continent in the world.

3. Home of the Brave Park and Splash Pad

With soft turf, a splash pad, playground, slides, and places to climb, Home of the Brave Park is a great find in the Blue Ash area. This is a great spot to have a picnic and relax with the little ones, as there is a good amount of shade under the branches of big, beautiful trees. After you eat, climb on the playground or jump into the splash pad. This special park has all the ingredients for a perfect family outing.

4. Blue Ash Farmer’s Market

The farmer’s market is an exceptional place for children to learn about where our food comes from and the importance of farming. You’ll have the opportunity to talk about different fruits and vegetables while you meet the vendors and scope out special treats. There are lots of wonderful vendors at the Blue Ash Farmer’s Market! For an extra fun activity, let your child help pick out a few items for dinner that night. Their ownership of that part of the meal and helping with the preparation will help them feel included while teaching them new skills and making them more likely to try new foods.

5. Summit Park

Summit Park is a 130-acre park in the heart of Blue Ash that features year-round events, activities, and unique learning opportunities. The Observation Tower offers unrivaled views of the city, and you’ll also love the Naturescape playground, pond, park, and discover trails. When it’s time to eat, the park even features four on-site restaurants! Many parks aren’t exciting in the winter months, but not Summit Park. Continue the fun all winter-long and head out for ice skating and sledding.
